More about the photography director
Michael Ellis studied to a masters level at Glasgow School of Art, working across a range of media, including photography, film, video, text and sound. He has been photographing professionally since 2002 and his specialism is architectural photography. He is also the creative director of Thameside Media. Occasionally he brings other photographers and assistants to shoots. See the Thameside blog on "all the work that's not work" for Michael's thoughts on architectural photography and related subjects.
Photography price guide
Location shoots start from £200 + VAT. The costs depend on your requirements, so we need to know how many images you need and the context (e.g. for PR and marketing, web only or for print and web). We shoot digitally, and the price includes a level of post-production to optimise colour and tonal balance. We can discuss whether the project would benefit from a higher level of post-production, as this is where digital photography really proves its worth.
For studio photography, many clients want objects shot on a plain background or as cut-outs (i.e. no background at all). For this kind of product photography — often called packshot photography — our standard rate is just £15 + VAT per object, including post-production with clipping path. More complicated studio shoots involving stylists and set-building will be quoted as a package.
